Oconee State Bank, a generous sponsor, invites you to their property at the corner of Experiment Station Road and North Main Street to enjoy a Musical Prelude at 3:45 p.m. Bells will ring out at 4 p.m., the hour the United States Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. The students, dressed in colonial costume, have planned a program reaffirming the ideals of the Framers. The 4:30 firing of the authentic Civil War cannon restored by Don Phillips, owner of IMI, is always memorable. A celebration of the Freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and Refreshments follow.

Watkinsville's 2019 Constitution Day Celebration

by the Reverend John Andrew Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is directed by Emily Givens. The JAC encourages students ages 5-18 to study American history and learn about U. S. government. Assisting with the program will be the Honorable Mayor of Watkinsville David Shearon, Oconee County Board of Commissioners Chair John Daniell, the William Daniell Society, Children of the American Revolution, and the Georgia State Society, Sons of the American Revolution. Special thanks are extended to Constitution Day 2019 Red, White and Blue sponsor AmeriPride, as well as Elizabeth Ann's Florist, Industrial Mechanical, Printz Plus, Kiki's Bakeshop, The Oconee Enterprise, Don Phillips and the City of Watkinsville.
